Nestled amidst the serene landscapes of the Uilkenkraal Valley near Gansbaai, all of us here at De Uijlenes witnessed an extraordinary celebration of love as Mienke and Wessel embarked on their journey together in a magical winter wedding in July. The Forest and Old Bar venue at De Uijlenes served as the beautiful backdrop for this three-day celebration, radiating warmth and joy despite the chilly weather.
The festivities began on a the Friday evening, when family and friends gathered for a heartwarming pre-wedding family braai. However, the weather had other plans, with rain and cold sweeping through the air. Our talented chef Maurice saved the day by bringing the braai indoors while the cozy fireplace in the cigar lounge crackled to life, creating the perfect retreat from the chilly weather.
Fast forward to the wedding day itself – it was nothing short of a winter wonderland fairytale. The skies had cleared and the day turned into a stunning crisp winters day.
Adding a touch of furry cuteness to the scene were Mienke and Wessel’s two beloved Cocker Spaniels. The bride, Mienke, had a delightful photo session with her furry friends in the quaint setting of the Little Barn as she got ready for her special day.
Meanwhile, Wessel, was in for a treat at our vintage-style grooms’ barber station in the cigar lounge. With a classic barber chair and a touch of nostalgia, he styled his beard, gearing up for the big day ahead with his groomsmen.
Mienke, radiant in her white gown with a warm furry stole, exuded elegance and grace as she walked through the trees and down the aisle. The ceremony, held amidst the picturesque setting of the Forest, was nothing short of magical. Surrounded by towering trees and nature’s embrace, the couple exchanged vows, sealing their commitment to each other amidst heartfelt cheers and happy tears from their family and friends.
The celebration continued in full swing up at the Old Barn venue, with heartfelt toasts and lively dances resonating throughout the venue. With all of the fires burning, every cosy corner seemed to echo with laughter and joy, a testament to the love shared not only by Mienke and Wessel but by all those who came together for the weekend to celebrate their union.
